A big silly grin for the harvesting of my first veges -
a couple of Easter Egg radishes!

Containers |
The right hand corner of our deck as a container garden. The
shelves were throw-outs from Mountain View; we rescued and
cleaned them.

First Square Foot Garden |
My first ever square foot garden. It's made of redwood planks
on a hardwood base, lined with plastic bags. I am dubious about
the hardwood vs the rain. It's balanced on concrete breeze
blocks.

Leeks |

A close up of the leeks - Burpee Broad London.

Long Containers |
I used the terracotta containers to plant radishes and carrots.
Actually they're plastic, so terracotta is a colour. The other
one is a herb kit they were selling off cheap.
The radishes are Renee's Garden Easter Egg; the carrots are Renee's Garden French Baby Carrots, Babette. |

Iceberg |
Four of the iceberg lettuces were transplanted into the square
foot garden. The rest are still in containers. It's Burpee
iceberg crisphead. Hard to imagine that these should one day
become a nice round lettuce.

Onions and Brussels Sprouts |
A closer look at the red onions and the brussels sprouts. This
is after some transplanting had been done - these really do
need a whole square or pot to themselves. The onions are
NK red burgundy onion (for hamburgers); the sprouts are
Burpee Long Island improved Catskill.

Turnips and Gourmet Lettuce |
A look at some turnips and gourmet lettuce. Doesn't it look
nice and fresh and green? Both are Burpee varieties...
Petits Pois |
Note the cleverly constructed (but ultimately unsuccessful)
supports made out of drinking straws ;-) These are so sweet
and yummy...
